how do you cure shell rot?

I noticed my tortoise has shell rot and it's getting worse what should I do? should I take him to the vet or try to cure it my self? or what do you guys think I should do

Put "Shell Rot" in the search box and you will get many hits. We've talked a lot about it here on the Forum. In fact, I think there's even a sticky on the subject in the 'Health' section.

Can we see a picture of the trouble area? You can treat it yourself quite easily.

Along with treating it, you need to figure out what caused it in the first place and address that issue as well. No sense treating the symptoms if you are not first going to solve the problem.

ok i didn't see that. I think he had shell rot when bought him and he also had a little crack in his shell, and also the other torts had pyramiding and weren't active

I have another question when im treating him what do put him on. Do i put the newspaper in his house or where else
