How do I tell the Age of my Redfoot Tortoise

I have a red footed tortoise named Shelldon that I rescued two years ago. When I got him they said that he was 4-5 years old, but they didn't really know. He is now 9 inches long and I wanted to see if there was a way to tell how old he really is?

Well we know he is at least 2.
You can't tell unless you know the hatch date, anything other than that, is just a guess.
