Hello! My sulcata tortoise is about 3 months old, and I've had him for 2 of those months. I have a question about his plastron, though. It has looked like this since I got it, and it seems strange to me. It doesn't look like any other plastrons I've seen. Is this an issue? Can anyone explain this? Allow me to answer some questions off the bat:
-yes he's active
-yes he's eating
- no it's not soft
-yes he has uvb and uva lighting
-yes the temps are correct
- yes I soak him. Usually 3 times a week.
See attached picture. Any help is appreciated.

I have seen lots of torts like that. I don't know what makes it do that but it shouldn't be a problem.

- not much need for UVA
- should soak daily (and keep in monsoon conditions)
- the plastron is showing a slight deformity where he was connected to the yolk. It goes away as he grows.

Hi Ben. Welcome to the forum. I agree with all of what Yvonne said.

What temps do you consider "correct"? This means different things to different people.

There is a lot of incorrect info for this species circulating around out there. Its been this way for decades. Here is the correct info:

Thank you all for the replies. My conditions are fine and match what tom posted in his articles. What sort of timeframe should I look for as far as this plastron correcting itself? And is there a point where it is a problem?
Thanks.
