Hi live in rhode island
And during the middle of summer I will be getting 2 western hermanns tortoises
Does anyone know if I can keep them outside in Rhode island?

In summer you can as adults but not together in the same enclosure.
If they are hatchlings, they need to be housed separate inside in a closed chamber, high humidity enclosure with short trips outside in summer.
Tortoises should never be housed in pairs.

Hello and welcome, read the caresheets on Hermann's. If they are hatchling. Use the info here to get their enclosures ready. Stay away from surfing the net for different info. Again use the info here so as not to get confused and possibly setup the enclosures wrong.
Please don't listen to pet stores or buy the equipment they recommend. You will end up spending a lot of money and possibly the wrong stuff. Get everything ready before you get them. There are plenty of knowledgeable members here to help.

You are putting yourself in a position that will need specific things done to ensure they stay alive and healthy. It is vital you read as much info here as possible BEFORE you get them, as @The_Four_Toed_Edward has said. I recommend reading it a few times. It is a great point, to be aware and informed about Brumation.

Hi and welcome,
There's a lot to read but it's worth it to make sure you give your tort a happy and healthy life. Also ask as many questions as you like there's always someone around to help.
There's also plenty of threads about why not to keep 2 torts together too. Torts are solitary, territorial and like their own space. Two together of any gender can lead to aggressive behaviour from the dominant tort which means a pretty miserable life, illness and even death for the other. Groups of torts work better but only if you have a really big space where they can spread out and avoid each other.
Check any equipment you're thinking of buying here too, it could save you a lot of money (e.g cheap terracotta plant saucers are much safer than expensive steep water dishes that pet shops are happy to sell for their profits)
