Hello! I've been recommended here by one of Marilyn's tortie friends on Instagram when I asked for some advice...I'll post it in the general questions forum

Marilyn is a Hermamns tortoise, approximately 16 and 2kg in weight. /
She's due to go into the fridge for the big sleep

Hi and welcome
I can't help with your question as my tort doesn't hibernate, but I'm sure someone with experience will be along soon.
On a more general note there are great caresheets in the Species section, The Beginners Mistakes thread (link below) will help you avoid problems and the Enclosures thread has lots of great ideas.
Hope Marilyn will be OK has she hibernated before?

Hi Lyn W,

Thank you I'm keeping a very close eye on her and yes she hibernated before but last year was brief. I kept her in an outhouse but we had a very mild winter and after three months she woke up. Luckily I was checking daily, so this time we're going for the fridge method.

@JoesMum is in Kent and using a fridge for the first time too.
There are plenty of experienced members here who'll be signing in soon.
It's still afternoon in many parts of US so they'll be able to help too.

Hello! Someone called :)

I'm in Tonbridge with Joe our Greek in the fridge. He went down just over a week ago.

He's on his 45th hibernation with us, but this is his first in a fridge.

I'm happy to answer any questions :)
