Hello, I recently picked up my first tortoise 2 days ago. He is a Sulcata Tortoise whose shell is about 3 inches long. I am unaware of age but seems young.

I will probably have a few questions and concerns posted on here soon and would appreciate any feedback! I dont have many pictures yet but have notcied the pyramiding he/she already has. Hoping to clear that up with good environment and help from fellow forum members!

So far, hes eating some mixed leafy vegetables and has timothys hay in house. He took a poop today and it was solid and slightly wet and seemed healthy. I gave him a bath for 10 min which he didnt seem to mind. Picking up a better light tomarrow night!

Welcome to the forum. First thing I would suggest is to get rid of the hay and replace it with damp coconut coir. It's good that you are soaking him, I would do it daily for about 20 minutes in lukewarm water. If you post some pictures of his enclosure people will be able to make more specific suggestions.

Before buying that light.Post a photo of the one you're thinking about.
Coiled florescent bulbs or compacts known as CFL can damage tortoises eyes and most pet stores sell them.
