Hi! Ive recently purchased a greek tortoise and named him Alpha! Im located in Alberta Canada! They didnt tell me the age and sex but im 70% sure Alpha's male :)

He's about 3" long, tiny lil guy! Who anyone be able to take a wild guess of how old he is?

I have him in a terrarium that sits at 75 degrees at the cooler end and 95-100 in under the basking lamp! Humidity is about 10-20% with our dry climate here its hard to keep it higher.

Been feeding him spring mix since i got him and he seems to love it!! He sleeps in the food dish for most the day and at night inside the hide!

Would there be anything i can improve on drastically or am i doing okay for a noob? :) Feed back is much appreciated!!

Hello and Welcome. Good to have you here.

The reason that you cannot keep the humidity high is because the wrong substrate you have in his enclosure, those pine shaving need to remove at once and replaced with coco coil. you will fine you can fairly easy to maintain a reasonable humidity (60~80%). If you like to use wood substrates, never use Pine or Oak because it is poison to the Tortoise. Please use Cypress. I also notice that your water dish may be bit too deep. Unless you always maintain just little water in it.

Have fun with your little one.

Thanks for the reply!! I'll change out the substrate immediately :) Its just that I've heard keeping a low humidity is better for greeks and if its too hugh it may cause problems for them in the future. And i always keep a small amount of water just enough so it isnt a hazard for him but i may get a one easier for him to get into!
