Thank you for the add! Very happy to be here and find such knowledgeable people! We have had Morla for a little over 6 years and have brought him/her outside quote often. Today we brought him into the garden at around 8 A.M. and forgot about him until around 1:45 p.m. he/she (Can anyone sex it for me?) was brought back in under the lamp and hasn't moved. The below pictures are from a couple of minutes ago after sitting in water. No smell, all legs still soft (not floppy), eyes are closed. When he was brought out he had good shade but of course, as he was forgotten about he ended up in direct sunlight. Any advice? I also am not sure what species he is either. Thank you.

It's a desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii). Just soak him in room temperature water. Make sure the water doesn't cover his nose. It's ok to leave him in there for a half hour or so.

Judging from the hard spot on the top of his head, I'm going to guess that this baby doesn't get regular soaks. Young tortoises should be soaked daily for about 15 minutes, and should be kept in a warm, humid environment (on moist substrate).

Welcome to the Forum!! We have quite a few desert tortoise keepers here.

Okay thank you. He has been in room temperature for almost 30 minutes! I just hope he's okay, he hasn't moved and not responded to any touching.

Aw heck. I hope he's ok. But usually when they've overheated you see bubbles/foam from the nose and mouth.

I did read about the bubbling and foaming, but none of that today. He has been in room temperature for 30 minutes now, we will go remove him. Also, my husband went and checked the area he was in and he can see his footprints all over, so said he was active quite a bit while out there. So can I assume it's a "he"?

Hi, and welcome. Gorgeous tort! My guess is female. Shell looks good too. Please try not to worry. Torts are tougher than we think:)

Hi, and thank you for the welcome! I sure hope she's okay. I have had a very rough day and when I was told we forgot about her and that she's not moving, it didn't make it any better! Let's keep our fingers crossed, we have already lost a dog and chicken this year.
