Hi,

I've recently built a tortoise table but am confused about what heating it needs. The shop said I needed the basking spot heat lamp and uvb light on through the day and then a heat mat on throughout the night. But after looking online there seems to be alot of people saying not to use a heat mat because all heat should come from above and that no heating is required through the night.

So now I'm confused as what's best to do, if I do need the heat mat where should I put it?

(I haven't got the tortoise yet, been trying to gather as much info as I can before I get it - it's a horsefield tortoise)

Thanks, that info helped alot . I'm not sure how old they are but I would say they were about 5 inches long roughly.

The table I built is 6x4, is this big enough? I seen yours were 8x4
