It's been awhile that I've been on, but my RF is doing great. She's gone from 1.95oz to 5.65oz in 4 months. She's not shy and loves to get her shell scratched (ooh, she dances when you find the right spot!)
I'm upgrading her enclosure. It will be closed chamber with light/CHEs inside. Distance from surface of substrate to ceiling will be 20 inches. I prefer the light to be mounted onto the ceiling (so not quite 20inches, but close), so that its out of the way. Maximum effective distance for a 5.0 UVB tube is 12 inches. Maximum effective distance for a 10.0 UVB tube is 20 inches. The tube is 15watt/18 inches, no matter the UV output. The enclosure is 3ft by 5 ft with the light in the center.
Can I give a redfoot a 10.0 UVB tube at ~20 inches distance, or is that too strong? Do I need to just suck it up and lower the light fixture?
Thanks y'all!
