Digital all the way. Those pet store analog ones are junk.

I got mine from home depot, it was like 15 bucks and made for spa use.

Digital!

I bought one from Walmart. The brand, AcuRite for $9.
It tells humidity, temperature and records highs and lows over a 24 hr period.

Neither. You'll pay more money because is a "pet product".

Actually, in my opinion (based on personally salt testing) they can both (mechanical and electrical) be good and the pet store version of the mechanical was actually 2% more accurate than my digital. ALL have a variance and should be salt tested and adjusted accordingly. I personally am using both so I have a back up in case of power outage or electronics failure. The big thing is to Salt test though and adjust accordingly.

Its a question of the quality and accuracy of the individual device, NOT whether its analog or digital. You can expect anything that costs a few bucks in a pet store to not be very accurate or reliable.

If you spend $300 on a lab grade digital OR analog hygrometer, I would expect it to work very accurately and reliably.

I agree with you, but digital are just easier to read and nicer to have, than analog. imo

This is the one I just bought and placed in center.Humidity reading is 75% compared the the analog ones in there that only say 50-60, depending if its on warm or cool side...Trust the digital or analogs?
