So I recently placed my tort outside, and he has been digging A LOT. It's not a problem because I put rocks around the perimeter, is it normal for him to be digging so much? Does he need extra space?

Yes - Russians love to dig! I put large rocks in the center of their pens so they can dig underneath them. That way I don't have to worry about them digging out. How big is his pen?

6' by 10'. Is that big enough for him? He himself is about 4.5'' long.I'll guess he won't grow much more, because he is for sure a guy.
He likes to dig under his water dish, so I could try the rocks!

Russians burrow, it's what they do. Your enclosure sounds big 4x10, so he is prob digging, just to dig. One word of caution, along my russian enclosure, I buried those plastic weed barriers, while they do like to dig, they also give up quite easily, you want to deter digging along the perimeter.

I do have rocks around the edge, so if he hits them, he should turn around. Thanks!
