Can we put acetone in tort shell?

hi, i got my 3 month old tortoise about a week ago, and the breeder had placed blue nail polish on his back to differentiate him and his siblings from the other hatched batches. Breeder is telling me that in order for me to remove it I can rub it away with acetone. I'm wary to do this. Can someone confirm if this is safe?

I used to do the same thing when I head-started clutches of hatchlings for my sister...I used red glitter polish...in my opinion...you can use acetone for removing it if you want...but if you simply leave it....it will wear off in a couple of months...congrats on a new baby...
