Was perusing the NE Herp website and noticed that one of thier packaged substrate mixes used calcined clay.

I'm pretty sure this is the stuff you can buy at the hardware store for soaking up oil spills on your garage floor i,e,

Since this is a clean, easily found, relatively inexpensive product that probably would hold moisture well, I was wondering if anyone here had experience using it - and if so how much did you mix into your substrate?

That is basically kitty litter. Not a good substrate as it would dry everything up and also pose an impaction risk through incidental, if not intentional, ingestion.

I would recommend against it.
