Age has nothing to do with sexing. It is size that counts. You need your tort to be about half as long again as it is now before the guesses can become more accurate.

Sexual maturity, and therefore the sexual identity, is related to the physical size, and perhaps health conditions, and is not based on age. However, that does happen in the second year for many sulcata.

You can tell most sulcata's sex at 3-4 years old. Some take longer.
