Yes it does. They need time with no lights on to do well and be unstressed.

what if it is an infrared bulb? ive heard alot of people say it is ok to leave them on 24/7 as a heat source. i am still skeptical.

Your better off with a ceramic heat emitter for heat at night. They produce heat with no light.
