I have 1.2.3 YF tortoises. I hatched the .0.3 here about 5 years ago. At that time I wasn't well-versed in YF care, and I'm afraid I raised them pretty dry. They look like three little pineapples. The first picture is of a young female that I got as a rescue from someone in L.A. After a quarantine period I put her in with my YF tortoises. I shouldn't have because she wasn't big enough yet to lay eggs, and the male bred her. She ended up with a prolapse and was egg bound. The eggs eventually were passed, but were not viable. Then this past year, she again prolapsed. An X-ray showed 5 eggs. I tried everything I knew how to enable her to pass those eggs, but she retained them. About 6 months later, she started digging a nest. She passed the original 5 eggs plus 4 new ones. The eggs are in the incubator.

The second picture is one of the pineapples.

The next time I'm in a picture-taking mood, I'll wet them down and find all of them. My group aren't the prettiest tortoises in the world, but that's what happens when you take in rescues. The little female in the first picture is my 'perfect' specimen.

No. As she grows the eggs will be easier for her to pass.
