My wife is growing sweet potatoes and they have a huge amount of leaves. We read they are edible for humans, but are they ok for a marginated tort?
Just wondering. Always looking to add a variety to her diet.
Thanks in advance guys !
i ordered this broadleaf seed mix from Carolina Pet Supply to grow food for my Margi.
Do all these plants look good for food?
I ordered a 1/4 pound. Any words of wisdom of growing them? How much of the seeds do I plant at once?
Any help is appreciated. I don't necessarily have a green thumb...
While I'm waiting for my Tustudo mix seeds to arrive,
I need to figure out what to feed my girl to firm up her stools.
I've been feeding her hibiscus, kale, spring mix greens, Zoomed grassland tort food...
Haven't had much more than that available yet to me for her.
Her stools are still too...
Ok, so this is the background to my question about my 7 y/o Margi Tort.
I have her in a new enclosure. Wood with a plexi front. See photo.
She paces back and forth along the plexi and tries to climb up. Only in that part of the enclosure.
So, to see if it would deter her, I covered the...
Just getting my enclosure finished for my Margi (7 y/o).
I bought a 8.5 " light fixture from Zoomed and I went with a 100W MV bulb from Flukers.
After setting it up, I noticed that the bulb is pretty deep and stick out pretty far from the fixture. I assume it should be set up in the reflector...
Reading everything I can find and the more I read from various resources, the more conflicted I get on which substrate to use with my Margi.
Right now she is in a temporary housing with Reptibark. I like the size of the pieces as she is 7 y/o and around 6" long, she moves around in it well, can...
So, I have an adopted 7 year old Marginated tort. I've only had her about a week and a half.
She has been fed spring mix, kale, hibiscus since I've had her this past week.
I'm not sure what to expect as far as tortoise poop, how often, what's it supposed to look like etc... But I don't think...
I have a 7 year old Marginated that is new to me.
Been feeding her Kale, spring mix and hibiscus...as of now.
I've read the recommended diet with things like dandelion, thistle , milk weed etc...
I don't trust any of the wild stuff grown in our neighborhood as the community takes care of the...
I've read through a lot of posts and I'm still not sure about my decision to use aspen shavings as my substrate.
I'm in SW. Florida, so humidity is not an issue to maintain, I have a 7 y/o Marginated tortoise.
Working on a new enclosure and I'm thinking of trying the aspen shavings. I...
I'm in the process of building an indoor wooden enclosure for my Marginated tort.
I have concerns about moisture and hygiene, cleaning etc...
Has anyone sealed the inside of the wood with marine paint/epoxy? Or something to seal the wood for ease of cleaning?
Anything recommended?
She is in a...
hopefully these are nothing, but I just wanted to see if anyone had an idea.
Margie has a few of these spots on her shell. You can feel them when you run your finger across and can catch your fingernail on them.
They are the 3 lighter spots.
Almost like a tiny barnacle.
Any thoughts would be...
Just looking for any feedback on these supplies, the good, bad and the ugly ;-)
I have a Marginated Tort for reference.
The hay hut is for a rabbit. Thought it might make a decent hide??
The cypress mulch was at Walmart. Not sure about it. I like the look of the coconut husk better.
So, knowing what the Marginated is supposed to eat, how often should they be fed?
Do you just keep a supply of food available in their enclosure all day/night?
Are there routines that are recommended ?
Thanks all I look forward to hearing what everyone does.
Just wondering if there is a thread that has a compiled a list of reputable and recommended online sites/resources to buy supplies (anything from heat lamps, to food, substrate etc...)?
Recommended places that have better/safe products, affordable...
If there is a thread, can someone post the...
Just introducing myself to the forum. I just adopted a 6 year old Marginated.
Look forward to reading and continue learning as much as I can from all of you.
The process has started this weekend of fabricating a indoor wooden habitat.
I will post up some photos as the process moves along...
