If you go to the sulcata threads Tom shows you how to build one.
I can't seem to post pictures either. My question is how does the inside look? What type of heating are you using? I read red lights are bad for their eyes, and also over head lights can burn their shells.
I live in Orlando Florida and would love to have him if your bring him this way. I know I'm new to the forum I have 3 boy Sulcate tortoise already 2 on my babies or 5 years old and weight about 60 pounds and my new baby is 3 years old and weights about 10 pounds I'm looking for a buddy for him. I work for Walt Disney World have a wonderful time on your vacation. If you have any questions please contact me. Thank YouWell I'm just saying we are going to Disney World mid November. Except Hurricanes, Florida has got to have the best weather for a sulcata.
that's horrible! people actually do that here?Be very cautious of new members that only post on your thread. They likely want the free torts to resell and make money.
Good luck
Not the good forum members, but yes, when ever there is a free tort thread, you will usually get a post from a new member that became a member the same day they posted on that free tort thread. Not all will sell I'm sure. Some probably just want a tortoise and can't or don't want to pay for it. The best thing to do with those type is to question them a lot about the set up they have for the tortoise, ask for pictures of their set up and do your home work on them the best you can before rehoming to them.that's horrible! people actually do that here?
that makes me so sad. I love reading the adoptions section because it's great to see how the community helps each other. It's really great when torts find a good home! "Rocky" I love the name!!! Thank you for saying you have a home for him. I have been on here a few times and recently saw where I could actually become a member so I only did so a few hours ago. I posted a few questions to Josh who welecomed me but I have yet to hear back. I wish both families success with your adoption! I have given you my email in my previous post if something should change. As of right now, I think I found a good home for Rocky. If anything changes I'll be sure to post back. Thanks to everyone who post advise or sent me messages.
I notice your location is Clovis. My brother in law lives in Clovis. My family lived in Visalia for 6 years before returning to Rancho Cordova (Sacto) and then hubby and I moved to Florida in 2013.@JAYGEE - is Houston very far from New Orleans?

Sorry to say, that I know of he does not. His step daughter and her 5 year old son live with him. They have no yard though. They are in a small house not far from Kaiser off Hammer (? its been so long since I have driven out there I can't remember the names) anyhow the front yard has grass not fenced and back yard is all cement with a hottub on one side. At least when I visited them last which was about 5 years ago the baby had just been born that is what it looked like. Who knows he always talked about getting rid of the hot tub before the wife passed and now she is gone so maybe he put in grass for the grandson? I could ask if you would like to email me information I can send it to them: [email protected]Not too many forum members here in my town. Does your B-I-L keep tortoises?
As you can see I am very new to the forum and I still learning my way around I just read where I can't try to adopt with less then 100 points or something like that. How do I earn points and exactly what can I do when I'm trying to upgrade the habitats I have, keep my house clean, my other pets happy, my husband happy and work? LOL give me some pointers please on collecting this "points".Not too many forum members here in my town. Does your B-I-L keep tortoises?

We lived in Visalia for 6 years, 1995-2001! We loved it there! We went to just about every Visalia Oaks baseball home game while we lived there. We were on the Boosters Board and housed some of the players. Hosted many swim and BBQ days at our place for the players! Still to this day very good friends with then their manager but they were disbanded and the Royals came in right after we moved. Husband got Valley Fever and almost died after being in bed for two years we moved back to Sacramento. We still miss Visalia!I live in Visalia!
