Look what I saw when I checked the incubator this a.m.:
This is a baby from Phae's June 19th clutch of 33 eggs. Sixty days at 89-90 degrees. Between than and now I've tossed more than half of them because of mold and rot. If you look closely, you can see other eggs that are moldy but they don't stink yet, so they've been allowed to stay.
Each time, I learn a bit more about hatching eggs. This time, I saw that the window in the incubator was staying wet all the time, so I cleaned out all the vermiculite and put in fresh stuff that wasn't pre-wet. I just spritzed a bit of water over it and the eggs occasionally. But I still had quite a mold problem.
There are about 6 more eggs that are lookin' pretty good. I'm sure hoping that this baby isn't going to be an only child like little Emmie was.
