Which tortoises get shell rot, and which don’t? What exactly is shell rot [how exactly does the shell rot, and what is it due to]?

Any tortoise that has to constantly sit in wet feces and pee absorbed substrate can get shell rot. The most common tortoise to get shell rot is the RF species. We see a lot of imported Russians with a bit of shell rot due to the unsanitary conditions of large quantity shipping, but mostly it's RF

Shell-rot is a generic term which describes the visible effects of bacterial, fungal or even algal (in aquatic species) diseases of a tortoise's or turtle's shell.
