Walking in the woods today

I was walking down a bike trail when I found this little guy. I almost stepped on him!

I put him in my pocket and walked him to a little pond loaded with other Painted turtles and Red bellies.

Then about 10 minutes later I ran into this girl.

I just took her picture and let her on her way. It was just great to see two turtles in the wild. Eastern Box Turtles aren't as common as the used to be. I just hope someone doesn't scoop her up for a pet!

The little one is sooo cute. The other is very pretty. I haven't seen a wild box in years, except as pets. I do see lots of wild water turtles though.
