Hi all,
I was wondering about UV lights. Is there. Point where they stop working? I know that once the been dues UV is no longer transmitted but can the light stop giving off UV before that?

Sorry about the terrible spelling,I meant that I know that IV is no longer transmitted once the bulb dies, but can it stop being produced before that?

Yes it can. There is a gradual decline in UV output over time. Most say 6 months for most bulbs, but only a good UV meter will verify this. They can go on producing light for years in some cases, but that does not mean they are putting out any UV at all.

If you are dependent on indoor UV over a frozen winter, I recommend a new bulb every fall, and real sun for spring and summer.

Yep, just about 6 months, and it's time to change... I w0uld guess if you had it off for a whole season and had your tort outdoors (like Tom said) the UVB output might last longer.
