I posted when I first got my tort for advise and subsequently changed the substrate and a few other things but tom had a weird shell issue. People suggested it was pyramiding but I'm not sure. His scutes seem to be lifting as if theyre about to come off. Theyre not, theyre solid but thrre appears to be a minisculegap along the edges. Not sure if you can see from the pics. I'm getting new light growth along the bottom which looks healthy. Hopefully I've got everything right now so it won't get any worse! I get him out for a walk around and a bath every other day and he has a shallow teracotta dish as recommended for a soak plus i have a larger plastic bathing dish i bought from amazon so he has a choice. Here he is having a little bask under his light.

Do you think it is pyramiding or something else?

Thanks in advance

I can see what you mean. It DOES look like the edges of some of the scutes have lifted. I've not seen this before, so I can't really help you, but I'm thinking maybe there just isn't any new growth around those scutes. It does seem to be a whole lot of new growth around the bottom edges of the side scutes.

Try increasing the humidity in the baby's enclosure and see if that helps smooth out the new growth.
