Just for fun, and going on someone's suggestion here, I bought a hydroponically-grown Boston lettuce*,
washed the roots well and planted it in my RT's enclosure. It was a LOT bigger than him, LOL. It took him about 0.0000005 seconds to find it and dive in; Geronimo!
(He took the shortest route possible, over the bridge and that's how he sat and ate it, LOL!)
It didn't last long as a happy tort played in it and tore it to shreds. Poor lettuce.....I pulled up the tattered remains and tossed it.
Think I'll do this every other month or so just for fun.
[*Not terribly nutritious; about the same protein as many other greens; more fibre and calcium than radicchio but less than endive or escarole; but hey - it was a party!]
