Tail hook gone

So the other day I was drying my tortoise Atu and I noticed his little hook at the end of his tail is gone! It is healed from where it tore off. I feel horrible for not noticing before. It is not swollen and is just a pale pink like a scar. Has anyone else experienced this? How will thus affect him if he were to get a mate one day?

Oh good. I didn't think do since it's not an open wound or even scabby. I just feel bad for not paying close attention.
