Whats up everyone. Im a new owner of a 5in Golden Greek Tort. Suggestions about a diet. I feed him mazuri blocks moistened with lettuce, spinach mix salad with sprinkle of phosphorus free calcium powder. I usually feed him thru the entire day. Sometimes once a day when i work doubles at work. I keep a water dish but i dont see him drinking at all. I built him a wooden house for hide with a heat mat inside. I use a Sunglow bulb which is uva uvb and heat at the far corner of the enclosure. I have alfalfa pellets for substrate which i would like to remove soon. Any suggestions....appreciated. tort encl 2.jpgtort encl 3.jpgtort encl 3.jpgtort encl 2.jpg

Hello and welcome to the forum...

O yes get rid of the alfalfa pellets, you can use cypress mulch, orchid bark, or even coco coir...

Heya

When I got my hermann, I never saw her drinking either! but after about 2 weeks I moved her drinking pool more under the light where its warmer and shes never out of it now! I have to clean it about 3 times a day cos she trails all the soil in!

Also I have a wooden hide too, Phoebe didnt go in it much till I started soaking the soil more, moved the hide more towards the warmer region and tied a wet sponge to the ceiling of her hide to keep it humid.

Golden greeks should have a diet of herbaceous plants, greens, and flowers.
Here's some good feeding articles:

Here's a list of good plant foods to feed:

I know that the first article recommends you to stay away from commercial foods; ignore that part. Mazuri (what you're feeding now) is perfectly fine to use as a weekly food source.

Nice tortoise, welcome to TFO.
