I noticed a few days ago that my 3 incher has some red coloration on plastron right under the arm pit. It's about 2mm of red orange, which I think is beautiful :]

Anyone notice this on their rfs? I am guessing the coloration would fade in adulthood?

In some older tortoises the entire 'armpit' area becomes flushed with pink or red and is very pretty as you said.

My girl has the same thing. She had some shell rot too so when i first saw it i was worried it might be more shell rot or something. But it is pretty.

Whew. When I saw the OP, I was afraid it was the reddish 'stain' that often starts near where the yolk sac was that can signal blood poisoning and septicemia.

Well no, not when that photo was taken. That picture was taken right when it came out of the incubator.
Don't worry, its seen plenty of dirt since then.

Ha Ha I have to laugh because my cousin came over with his 2 week old, squeeky clean new truck right before I saw your pics and I had just told him the same thing (I'll bet that truck has never seen dirt).
