it depends on the size of your tort. i believe for smaller torts the easiest and cheapest method is building 4 plank walls with the corners capped and some screen covering it. this way you can move it easily. make sure you add shade, a water dish and put it somewhere with some sun
The wood stakes keep the dogs out, my two leopards spent their first night outside last night. I just finished wiring the inside electronics and connecting the temp regulator about 30 min ago. FINALLY Steve and Rudy have moved out!!
No rain problems hallbomber? I like the simplicity of that
I'm also considering using her indoor in closure for outside. Just get rid of the bottom so she's walking on the grass, I'm troubleshooting a partial ceiling for rainy days.
The house is rain proof, im also sealing the bolts that i drilled through the top to hold up the heat panel with silicone sealer. My outlet against house is also very rain proof. I would keep a bottom on it so the grass or dirt doesnt suck the heat out of their bodies. Much easier to keep then warm in a "not so well insulated" house when the bottom is in tact and maybe even a heat pad like i have, Tom the veteran on here does it this way. Im also gonna put Bermuda grass on the inside for more insulation and a little stuff to burrow into.
Tom does not use the dog houses as heated hides. But he does have great designs on insulated boxes for the outdoors and likes to use cinder blocks stacked as easy, cost effective and expandable walls.
