I mixed a new substrate for no name (we will get to that lol) i took his old substrate of soil/sand and added coir aka bed a beast. i didnt want to use just coir because thats what we have in our ornate box turtles habitat and i dont like how soft it is...i still wanted a firmer substrate but one that would help hold in humidity. i put a layer of dirt on the bottom to help protect the table more, then a thin layer of just coir, then a thick layer of the sand/top soil/coir mix on top.we made little hills and ravines for him to climb on and in and he seems to love them. i also added another moist hide with coir close to his lights so he has his choise of a warm one or a cooler one. i think the 'strate looks much better and i can even tell just by sticking my head in there it is more humid. he really loves his new hide too lol. also his eyes are doing much better. he hasnt been rubbing them and they do not look irritated anymore. im still having trouble getting him to eat hay though, he loves his greens and i can only get collard and mustard greens as well as kale this time of year (i usually get dandelion too for my other herps) but i dont want him on a greens only diet...and another thing, i am having a heck of a time naming him lol, i have narrowed it down to Kobe, Skilpad, or Tonka....any suggestions? and let me know if you think this substrate is any good. i think it should work out fine.

here is his old substrate

I like TONKA. If you haven't tried it yet,try cutting the hay in smaller pieces and wetting it, and mixing with the greens. Then you can add less greens as time goes on. Cute tort, nice enclosure.
