hi. long time turtle lover but first time tortoise owner.

master oogway is the name of my Russian tortoise.

I read that cypress mulch was safe and appropriate to use

but

I mistakenly bought cedar mulch.

master oogway has been exposed to it for about 8 hours now and may have even ingested it! I am worried and I feel so stupid for not double checking.

no. I did not see him eat any but there was evidence that he possibly could have; his food was scattered and had mulch residue on it and his water bowl had it too.

Welcome, stassisdc5!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Its the pungent oils, and the odor that you worry about. It causes eye problems. So if you have now removed it, I would think its all good.
