Hi

Please can I have your advice the nails/feet if my tortoise. She is a 50+ year old greek tortoise. How many nails should she have? There seems to be nails or elongated scales that seem to be curling over from the back of the rear foot. There are four defined nails that look normal (maybe need a trim) but not sure if the ones (seem to be more than one?) curling over is a fifth nail or scale?

Thanks

Wow, those are some wicked looking feet/nails. I can't tell from a pic if you should cut the odd ones or what they are. I don't usually like to recommend a vet visit. But if they are curling under her foot, where she is having to walk on them or they are poking into her foot, whatever it is will need to be cut or better, filed back. I would have a vet do it as it may bleed.
See what @Yvonne G thinks. She's had to rescue many tortoises, maybe she has seen a similar situation.
