Meet my rescue Funyun. Tripled her weight in 3 months

I bought a leopard off of craigslist and got a free sulcata with it back in Oct. Both had pretty poor diets.. I suspect lots of romaine based on what I was told. They only had the sulcata for about 4 months before giving it to me. Original owner told them the sulcata was around 4 years old. On October 21st Funyun weighed in at 261 grams. Which would be pretty small for a 4 year old.

Look at her smooth shell growth. She is a hog beast of an eater.



I think this is a good comparison. You can see how much more of my hand Funyun takes up and the distance between the scutes too.

261 is exactly what my 6 month old sulcata weighed this morning.

She has quite an interesting scute pattern. I noticed the zipper effect on top, but didn't notice the absence of the coastal scute until you showed the comparison picture. Nice job turning this tortoise around.

She was 860 grams today.. I think by end of summer she will probably need an out door enclosure if she keeps up at this rate. She really likes out side anyways.. She does laps in the front yard just eating anything green. Pretty much she is a cow.
