This is the setup we have for Makari:

44 gallon long tank

100watt heat and uvb

ramp bath with small smooth rocks

kind of a big bowl, he seemed wierded out by it at first..

a cork half round hide

a temp and hydro, i would like to get 2 more temps si I can get a read on
the heat and one in the cooler spot

substrates:
1st layer is aspen crumble bedding
2ed layer is arm and hammer natural pet bedding
3rd layer is orchard grass used on the uvb side with his cork half round

We bathe him in a cat litter box bought brand new of course with some smooth small rocks and a box around it. I have been watching him bathe because he flips himself bathing lol!

I think hims a happy boy!

I think it's a little small to be honest, and if he's flipping in the water bowl you should take it out and replace it with a glazed saucer dish, those things that potted plants sit in. I also think he might not be okay if he eats any of that substrate as most tortoises eventually do, sorry, just my honest opinion. What are those blue and red things in the food dish? I've made two enclosures out of old bookshelves I found in the trash, I just put a large piece of plywood on the back instead of the flimsy cardboard ones they usually have. It's a really easy way to have a six foot long enclosure. You can also get a 6ft folding table at home depot to put the cage on.

We feel his enclosure is a little small as well, but we try to make it comfy as possible.. He flips in the cat pan/box bath setup that we have him in outside. His ramp bath and food dish is fine. The food bowl is a little big for him, he does better with it flush with his substrate. We did notice he was checking out his substrate, I don't feel he will munch on it but we have been watching him. His Orchard grass is for him to graze on.

Soon I want to build him a custom enclosure..

I really like the foliage hanging down, makes it look like a jungle. I'm not sure about your substrate, I do not know what arm and hammer natural pet bedding is, can you explain? I do like your food dish, if you offer a variety of weeds/greens, you probably do not need to give those pellets. Your water dish with the ramp is a little big for me, if you use something smaller like a terra cotta plant saucer, you can free up a little floor space to give him some more room. I would change a few things, but overall I do not think its bad except maybe the substrate. He does look like a happy boy :)

We feed him nothing but organic foods. He seems REALLY comfy in this substrate... he sniffs but he isint munching on it. I have been observing him in it a few days now, he burrows and gets super comfy!
