Is this possible!!!!! Can it happen

Hi,
This is what happened

My star tortoise put 5 eggs on the 26th or so of March.

Then she put another 5 eggs on about the 18th of May.
Although i thought that this was a bit peculiar, i did'nt inquire into this situation much.

NOW!! on the 21st of June she is putting another clutch of eggs. right now!!
There are many males around but
Are any or all the eggs fertile?????

Can a star tortoise put three clutches of eggs within 4 months.
Or is there some scientific reason that can be given for this because i was told that it takes at least two to three months for a tortoise to put another batch of eggs.

Pls help me in this to find out what is going on

Hi Nuran:

I don't keep star tortoises, and no next to nothing about them, but since it HAS happened, I'd have to assume that it DOES happen. I know that female sulcata tortoises lay multiple clutches each year.

Hopefully someone with some star knowledge will read your question and give you a good answer.

It's very possible...just don't try to stop her.

It sure can. I have a friend that has a female platynota that layes 10 eggs a month 5 months a year. Unheard of...

My 2 female Sri Lankans each lay 5-7 eggs every 6-8 weeks lately. They also lay their eggs within a week of each other and once on the same night.

Oh man that is awesome. I can happen and please incubate then. There is very much possibility that many of them are fertile. So please do incubate them.
