I have this ruby peperomia growing and I was wondering if my tortoise can eat it. I searched on the tortoise table, and it mentioned that peperomia was safe, which looked like a different variation of peperomia. Does that mean that ALL peperomia plants are safe fire tortoises including this one, or just that one variation? This is also just a general question for every plant too. When TTT lists a plant with lots of variation as safe, does that mean all variations are fine?

The Tortoise Table shows the genus* of this plant family to be safe, they weren't actually being specific to the one shown in the photo. In other words all the peperomia plants that make up this genus are likely safe.

*Genus is just a word for where this group of plants falls under scientific classification of its larger plant family. Genus is kinda low level on the list.

All you ever wanted to know, and much more, on scientific classification: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plant_taxonomy. Click on angiosperms to get to the stuff must relevant to us, flowering plants: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flowering_plant.

I look at a plant's classification all the time when checking out a new to me plant for safety but it's more effort than most people want to get into. Much more lol.
