When he is retracting his head the puffines shows (the back is swollen). He should be able to retract his whole head inside his body. It's not normal and it does not go away - please find a Reptile specialist - not all the Vets are knowlageble enough to help you. Keep us updated. Hugs for your tortie.Thank you. Is not permanent. It goes back to normal after one minute. I am in Toronto, Canada, anyone can provide a good vet for my View attachment 180692 tortoise.
She looks like she's straining in the video to pass something, they do puff up when they're pushing. I've never seen them puff up THAT much though.
Has she been around any males, and are you sure she's female? I've never dealt with this so I don't know, could she be trying to pass an egg? Has she eaten anything recently that might have caused an impaction?
EDIT: Nevermind, I forgot she's a baby.
That is a BIG stone, hopefully she can pass it. Try soaking more often in lurk warm water, it will help her relax and get rid of it. She was close once she can do it twice. Hugs for you tortie:*View attachment 182821View attachment 182822
Initially I can see the bladder stone. However after the vet tried to pull the stone out, she push it back. Then she suggested to take xray. She said wait two days see whether my baby can push back. Now cannot poop and I cannot see the stone again.
Boy, that is a hard one. I think I would agree with the vet at this point as it would be surgery (thru the plastron) vs waiting for it to come back thru. I think the latter would be much less invasive.I bring her to the vet this morning anaesthetised her and try to remove the stone. However my vet just called said he cannot find the stone but the xray still show it's there. He said is fine to leave the stone inside her body until the stone move to the tail again???? I have already spent CAD$1,000.00. However, no help for my baby. My concern is she eats every day but no poop. Anyone have any suggestion for me what can I do now?
If you're not short on money I would seek advise from another reptile specialist, leaving stone inside can end tragically. Surgery is invasive but you should consider it as an option. Give her a week or so if she will not poop consult a different veterinarian.I bring her to the vet this morning anaesthetised her and try to remove the stone.
