Hello all. I have a question: I'm planning to build a greenhouse for an outdoor enclosure for my growing red foot, but am concerned the intense UV rays at our high altitude (7000 ft) may harm him. Anyone with experience living at high altitude? Many thanks!

I think as long as you provide plenty of shade for him to retreat from the sun, it will be fine. What type of green house are you planning on building?

UV Index

UV intensity increases about 6% per kilometer elevation above sea level.

RE: High altitude & UV rays

I'm planning a cinder block base with reclaimed windows for the sides & trying to decide if the top should be more glass & supplement with lamps for beneficial rays or plexiglass that the UV can come through. We still have snow on the ground, so I have plenty of time to daydream!
