Hi I'm new to turtles and would like some advice on which turtle would be best for me and where in my room to put the tank.If anyone has any questions or ideas feel free to chime in.

Welcome to the Forum, turtled!

The red ear sliders (Chrysemys scripta) are very hardy and become very people-oriented. This would be a good starter turtle.

Welcome.
Do not put the tank by a window. It will greatly increase alge growth.

I agree that Red eared sliders are easy. They do get large and would eventually require a large tank or pond.
Smaller turtles are musk and three striped mud turtles.
Read up on each as they have specific requirements that ou may or may not be able to accomodate.
Have fun investigating.
