Hello everyone, yesterday we got our much awaited, much loved horsefield. She (looks like a she although I know this can't be reliably sexed for a long time yet) is 9 months old. She was kept on hay in a viv so we have brought her home to a table filled with top soil, I put some weeds (sow thistle and plantain) down for her when she arrived yesterday and she was loving those also! She buried down for sleep last night and I woke her up and gave her a bath this morning. She seems to be settling in nicely. The plan for this weekend is to build a suitable outdoor enclosure! Anyone who has any advice on things to include please do let me know! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

You might want to take a look at the enclosures thread, including the introduction to cheap and fast setups for babies.

The subforum itself is here, you can get good ideas here for a permanent enclosure, including possibly a night box. Then just poke around, doing searches for easy outdoor enclosures:

http://www.tortoiseforum.org/forums/tortoise-enclosures.7/

Here is the fastest setup for babies:

This one takes a little more work but you'd just need one. Not everyone uses the top lid; it depends on your concerns with predators: http://www.tortoiseforum.org/thread...table-but-safe-outdoor-baby-enclosures.30683/

When you you are ready for a permanent enclosure, it will be helpful for us to know where you live. You can add your location to your profile and it will then always show on the left with your avatar. Otherwise, please let folks in the enclosure forum kknow where you are from when you ask your first question. :)
