HELP with an indian star

A friend of mine called me in a panic because he noticed worms in his indian stars feces and on its anus today. He said the worms are thin, long, red and have little pincer like things on one end. I have never seen anything like that and cannot find anything online or in my books. Anyone ever seen a worm that matches that description??? He made an appoinment for the vet, but he can't get in until thursday. Any help is appreciated.

Jess, Perhaps your friend could take a poo sample into the vet office for processing ahead of time. Pincers on one end sound like hook worms to me. They attach themselves to the intestine with these. But I am not sure this is it.
