1. What species of tortoise are you interested in owning?

2. Do you have enough space to house the specific tortoise species you're after?

3. Tortoises are expensive pets that require very large indoor and outdoor enclosures. Equipment and setup costs for a small species tortoise is about a couple hundred dollars alone. Dietary, heating, and lighting requirements will also be quite costly. It's best to have an entire setup prepared before buying a tortoise.

4. Tortoise forum has several active and engaging members that breed tortoises for sale. There is also a section in the forum where you can view reviews from other member on their experiences dealing with different tortoise vendor sites.

Hello and Welcome. Best place to purchase is from one of our forum active breeders.

1. I'm looking at a Russian Tortoise
2. I should I have enough room. It just depends on how big the tank is

4. I looked at CB Reptile. I'm still researching some good websites to look at

Russian tortoises require a minimum enclosure size of 8x4 feet as adults. Are you prepared to build that enclosure?

Be sure to give these a read-

I strongly recommend against buying from CB Reptile. It is actually Tortoise Town, a very low rated pet reselling business and operation, using a different name, one of many I'm afraid. They all share the same address. Here are some threads on buyer experience from some members in this forum:

Hi, Banana, and welcome to the Forum!

Please bear in mind that most tortoises do much better when housed outside, and it is especially difficult to keep a Russian in a "tank."

Other than looking on this website, where else could I look?

For tortoise town/CB reptile reviews?

I wouldn't recommend looking at any social media and or pet retailing sites for honest reviews. You can try other reptile related forums, though I must say, from my experience, I have found Tortoise forum's advice and information to be the most consistent and fundamentally sound out of all the other reptile forums I have perused in the past.
