I have custody of an ornate female desert box turtle. I say "desert" because I picked her up trying to cross the highway near Sonora, Texas which is in the Chihuahuan Desert. She looks much like all the ornate box turtles I have ever seen (mostly as a kid playing in the fields 60 years ago). I would like to breed her but I don't know where to start.

Post some pictures of your box turtle, maybe someone can identify it. (It's really a selfish request. I love seeing new pictures of box turtles!)

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

There is a species of box turtle called desert box turtle (terrapene ornata luteola). They look like a faded ornata with more stripes.
