Hi everyone!
I just wondered if there's any cream/oil etc that you use on your tortoises shell to help keep them strong, healthy and shiny?

I'm just thinking that as the shell is bone, the best thing to keep it healthy is good diet and good housing/environment. Like your fingernails or hair, external applications can't touch what internal applications can do. However, I have noticed tortoises at the reptile shows are much shinier than my own.... The sellers are definitely adding a wax or shine for visual-appeal, like polish on a horse's hoofs. It's more for the owner/onlookers than the tortoise's/horse's benefit.

There is a product called Vitashell, that you will get mixed opinions on. Most say it's not bad when used in moderation.
