Hi all :)

As some of you may have already noticed, we got our first pair of G.p.b. a few weeks ago :)
That's how the terrarium looks:

Hi all tort lovers :) thanks to the new iOS app i can add posts and photos easily, thank you! I thought there will be more progress visible after some time :) what do you think of our cuties?:) that's our first pair of of g.p.b. so i thought some of you may tell us if they're all right:) they try to hide to their caves when possible, and go out for approx. 30 minutes a day + eating... Shouldn't they spend more time under the bulb? I know they're only 2 and a half month old, but... What's your opinion ?:) thank you all ! :)

What are your temperatures and what lighting/heat do you use? Hiding in caves and only coming out for thirty minutes could be environmental or they are still acclimating.

Babies do sleep a lot. Mine bab leopard never has basked much and still doesn't. Make sure your ambient temps and basking temps are not too hot. 80 ambient with basking 95-100 and humidity at 80%.
In case you haven't read them yet, Toms great leopard thread is at the bottom of my post.

babies tend to hide more often until they feel safe, just like in nature. They will start being more active, don't worry. You've already had good advice on lighting and temps. Just enjoy them now and make sure they eat and drink and you'll be fine. They will be big in no time, so take plenty of pictures now.

By looking at your enclosure setup, I think its probably to cold on the end of the enclosure where the tube lights are. Do you have a heat source at that end ? Take a temp gun and get a heat reading from that side. Looks like you spent some time on the setup, sometimes they just need to be tweeked a little

Hi all :) Thank you for all your responses :) I use Osram UltraVitalux and 2x25Watt exo terra repti glo 10.0. The temperature at the basking spot was @ cca. 105 degrees (40 celsius) I raised the bulb now so when it starts lighting tomorrow, it should be better. Thank you for this catch, because it can be the reason they don't stay basking that much. About the other temps... there's room temp 73-75 degrees (23-24 celsius) on the right side of the terrarium. Is that cold? There is a heating mat under the left 'cave' temping it to around 85 degrees (30 celsius) 24/7 (they sleep there). There's a lot of moss and wooden ... dont know how to say ... strips? you probably know what i mean... to hold high humidity. I have built up my own home temperature system to wake me up when marginatas are hybernating, and the temps are wrong, and use it also for those two cuties, so we do look on the temps all day long :) I thought 95 degrees (35 celsius) would not be sufficient @ the basking spot.

An example of the temp system:
