You do not need to keep your young russians at 80 degrees all night and day with higher levels of humidity. The person telling you that has never kept russian tortoises and current has none. She has never kept them with or without humidity and has never kept them at 80 degrees or any other temperature. I, on the other hand have kept many of them in a variety of ways. I currently have 20 of them and I let them get down to 68-72 at night with damp substrate and a humid hide. All are healthy and thriving, I can assure you.
