I have a pair of redfoots that are about ten years old. I got two clutches of five eggs each. They were both put in an incubator. About four months after she laid her second clutch, one of the eggs cracked. There was no tortoise in the egg, but a dead yolk sack that I can see through the crack. If this egg is dead, then why did it crack?

You're lucky that it cracked! Mine exploded like stinky hand grenades.
