I just wanted to make sure that the new flourescent coil bulbs that everyone is using now in their house lamps etc. are safe to use with our torts for plain lighting? Or is that what everyone is talking about when they recommend not using the coil bulbs? :D

The ones that give off UV are the ones to avoid. I don't know of any problems with the regular ones.

I've used the regular ones, but they were far from the tortoises and there was a double layer of opaque plastic between the torts and the bulb. I was just using it for light. I had no problems.

This one is not far away and there is nothing between it and Tatum. It should still be okay, right?
