If a flourescent strip uvb light is used say once or twice, then taken out of the fixture and not used again, does it still lose its effectiveness after 6 months? Or does it all depend on the amount of hours the light is actually on? I bought a flourescent strip uvb light for my tortoise, but decided I'd rather not use it at all, take himoutside for an hour every day when it's sunny, and save it for the winter months when it's too cold to do that. Did I kind of waste my money buying it and using it a little now, or can I just remove the fixture all together and use it again in the winter?
