As a cosmetologist, that is the most SERIOUS case of nail fungus I have EVER seen!

I hope someone gets this little Russian into a good home!

No. In the second picture, you can see the thickness of the thumbnail. The only thing that would make it that thick is a really bad acrylic job, fungal nail bed infection, or permanent injury. I have seen enough fungal infections to be 99.9% sure that is what it is. It has gone unchecked for a LONG time and by now has caused permanent scarring in the nail bed. The plate will never grow normally now. But the thickness/sponginess/yellow coloration shows ongoing infection.
